Gettin' The Groove

Spent about an hour tonight roughing out the slots in the verticals and ribs...haven't started on the upper, lower or center rings yet.

Tomorrow, I hope to start on the rest of the slots and break out the router. I also need to find a sheet of quarter inch MDF for one of the "ribs". I hate to buy a whole sheet for that one little piece...but...we'll see.

Once I'm done cutting everything up, it'll be time for rough assembly, sanding, filing and testing everything out before final assembly.

  1. Hey John. Ace Hardware and OSH usually have some half or even quarter sheets of .25" MDF. I'm trying to think of where there's a .25" piece on the frame though. Is this for one of the horizontals in the front around the data port? I'd use .25" plywood on that, not MDF. It's too flimsy. Looks like great progress. Lemme know if I can help out.

  2. Matt,

Thanks man! I didn't even think about using .25 ply...perfect! Yeah, the pdf plans from MJHENKS called for .25 mdf for one single piece and I think it's the one underneath the LDP...but I haven't assembled everything yet to make sure. I'll cut that up today. THANKS MAN!!!!!!

  3. Hey, once I start cutting up the leg stuff, I'll follow-up with you. I'd like to take you up on that offer to use your belt sander to smooth all the edges nice and clean.
